Time For A Poll
Hi Gang!
Just got off the phone with my brother and I thought we’d give this another shot. My niece Jessica found a great vacation rental site that has a pretty comprehensive listing of the types of places available. It will give you a pretty good idea of the types of places available as well as the costs. http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/california/lake-tahoe-ca/north-shore#a2052.
And here is a listing for Fort Robinson: http://nebraskastateparks.reserveamerica.com/webCampingFacilityFees.do?contractCode=NE&parkId=230077.
There is a poll posted on the right column of the website that I would like absolutely every one of you to take this week. The poll will be open from right now until August 2nd and is completely anonymous!!!
It is basically asking if we should hold the reunion at Tahoe or Fort Robinson. Where YOU would most likely be able to attend… I know that there are some strong feelings about both sites, but it doesn’t make any sense to do this if nobody can make it. It also doesn’t make sense to do this if enough people aren’t interested.
Even if you have emailed or spoken with me in the past, please take a moment to click the little button. I really need to know where we ALL stand on this.
And please, please, please direct your comments to the website. I want all communication to be open and let everyone have a free and equal voice in what is decided.
Just hit the comments button at the bottom of the post!
Thanks!

Sorry Tim about no info on Alpine..The guy retired and Mike just doesnt see him anymore.. I will help in any way I can I want Tahoe..I think it would be a gas!!!
Hi guys, I want Tahoe. I keep forgeting to talk to Marianne but I invited her to the Family Picnic in San Rafael so will ask her then if she knows a place in Tahoe. See ya on Aug 15th!!!
I am a retired(semi) teacher so I have to vote the pocket book which would be fort Rob. Sorry but things are tight.
We would attempt to attend either one, some of the Tahoe prices didn’t seem too bad.
I have to vote Fort Robinson. We have a to take two trips to Detroit. One to move my son back and another to attend his graduation there two weeks later. Really want my kids to experience Fort Robinson again and so do a lot of other Omahans. Sorry! I know Tahoe would be fun, but less people.
Hi Tim……Gary and I think the Tahoe site would be great….lots to see and do…..Even though we did have a great time at Fort Robinson. Let us know what we can do. Betty
Hi everyone! I am one of the grandkids (next generation) that has been referred to in some comments earlier this year. I appreciate the fact that Tim has been trying to put something together. However, Tim, I don’t think you know how many family members we have in Omaha and how much this generation looks forward to going back to Fort Robinson. It is a place that we grew up and we didn’t go because we had to…we went because we wanted to and look forward to it. I am now 29 years old and for over the past 10 years I have looked forward to going back. I am now married and I can’t even tell you how many times I have told my husband about how much fun Fort Robinson reunions are and what great memories we all have from there. We love Tahoe and think it is beautiful but for the reunion I just don’t think it will have the same feel. Although there are a lot of things to do we look forward to things like water balloon tosses, eating breakfast in a big old building, painting ceramis, playing tag in the big open field, and most of all showing our children now and in years to come what a tradition Fort Robinson is and sharing those memories with them. I can’t imagine having the reunion anywhere else. We also just got married and bought a house so financially Fort Robinson is the only place we would be able to save for and afford. Thanks for allowing me to share my opinion…I thought it was important that you hear from Peg Dineen’s grandkids and how much Fort Robinson has meant to this generation!!
First of all, thanks Tim for all the work you have done on this. I really look forward to a reunion and seeing all of the California Dineens. I have to vote for Fort Robinson because it is a great place for a lot of people. We have such good memories of all of us being there. My kids want to come and none of them could afford to stay at Lake Tahoe or have that much time. Walt and I would go to Tahoe if everyone else votes that way, but we would like all of the second generation to meet each other and that wouldn’t happen at Tahoe. Again, thanks for all of your hard work. Colleen
Hello all! I have been keeping up on the family reunion talk since Tim has started talking about it and I know that our entire family really appreciates the time and effort Tim has put into this. If the reunion is held in Tahoe, there wouldn’t be one member of our immediate family who would be able to attend. Not only is cost a factor, but vacation time as well. I have to agree with Michelle’s opinion on Fort Robinson. I have so many great memories of being there and in the past 10 years have inquired countless times as to when we are going back. Think about the great big lunch room where everyone played the biggest game of SPOONS I have ever seen. I can still remember seeing Dick dive on the table to get one of the last spoons left. I wasn’t even playing, yet I still remember watching, wishing I could have played. I would love for younger generations to be able to experience the pool, horseback riding, water balloon toss, chubby bunny, the craft center and overall awesomeness of our massive family like I did when I was younger. I still remember my younger sister jumping off the stairs grabbing the fly trap hanging down from the ceiling (with hundreds of dead flies on it) because she didn’t know what it was. Fort Robinson has been a great tradition full of great memories that I will never forget and I hope we will be able to make some new ones
Estes sounds great too. Keep the discussion going.
